Buy something nice, listen to music in an\u00a0outdoor cafe and look at passing people. Numerous farmers markets(<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foires-marches.fr\/24%20DORDOGNE.html\"><strong>fior\u00e9s and marches<\/strong><\/a>), exclusively made up of local producers, are held in villages across the Dordogne weekly .<br \/>Specialty markets in P\u00e9rigueux, Sarlat, Thiviers and Excideuil, provide an opportunity to see\u00a0the very best local products of\u00a0the P\u00e9rigord and to participate in \u00a0events and activities. These markets are held between December and February and feature local guilds, performances by folklore groups and tastings.<\/p>\n<h4>A few wellknown harvest and foodfestivals are:<\/h4>\n<p>\u2013 Truffle Festival in Sorges (January)<br \/>\u2013 Walnut Festival in Nailhac, near Hautefort (third Sunday in August)<br \/>\u2013 Strawberry Festival in Vergt (August)<br \/>In the autumn<br \/>\u2013 \u201cGrain d\u2019Automne\u201d Festival at the heart of the Bergerac vineyards<br \/>\u2013 \u201cL\u2019Automne Gourmand\u201d in the Parc Naturel R\u00e9gional P\u00e9rigord-Limousin<br \/>\u2013 Chestnut and Cep Mushroom Festival in Villefranche du P\u00e9rigord (October)<br \/>\u2013 Turkey Festival in Varaignes (November)<\/p>\n<p>Famous are the\u00a0March\u00e9 nocturne or March\u00e9 gourmand<strong>,<\/strong>\u00a0markets held in the summer at the end of the day.\u00a0Bring your own cutlery ,plate and glass. Be surprised by the local butcher with his delicious piece of meat from the grill, a salad, fries or pommes sarladi\u00ebnnes ,a piece of cheese or just a nice piece of bread and a glass of wine. Then take a seat at one of the arranged long \u00a0tables.\u00a0And afterwards, of course, dessert.\u00a0Usually there is an\u00a0artist or band wich\u00a0only increases the atmosphere and there is The summer season in the Dordogne is featured with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.visit-dordogne-valley.co.uk\/french-living\/what-s-on-in-the-dordogne-valley\">festivals<\/a>, ranging from classical and baroque music to techno, blues, jazz, flamenco and world music.<br \/>Obviously July 14th, the national holiday in France can not be missing as a large cultural event that happens\u00a0every year.<\/p>\n<p>In high season, every place has its own party with music, fantastic Fireworks and often a repas (meal with each other)<\/p>\n<h4>Arts &amp; Crafts<\/h4>\n<p>The Dordogne, one of the cradles of mankind, whose rock walls provided the canvas for the earliest artists, remains a hugely popular and welcoming region for myriad artists and craftspeople. Sculptors, copper- and wrought-iron workers and cabinet-makers are among the sixty or so artists and artisans who have signed up to a quality charter and whose workshops can be found along a specially created Arts and Crafts Route. This \u201croute of artisans and artists\u2019 leads past the studios and workshops of about 60 artists and craftsmen, including sculptors, coppersmiths, blacksmiths and carpenters, whose work meets strict quality requirements. Visit the charming village of Meyrals\u00a0between Sarlat and Saint Cyprien and wander around many fabulous art studios. Browse or buy and take away a piece of the Dordogne and \u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0memories with you.<\/p>\n<p>From pottery to glass blowing or boutique soap to stained glass making you will find a wealth of local people and artisans engaged in a variety of handmade arts and crafts.<br \/>There is something for everyone. Come and browse and shop from our local artists. This vibrant sector of the local Dordogne Valley economy is buzzing with a mix of the traditional and innovation and you may find the perfect gift or souvenir to take back home.
