If you are looking to get away from it all with a peaceful cycling vacation, consider a selfguided cycling tour in the Dordogne and discover the beauty of the Dordogne Valley.

Weather conditions here are fine for cycling from march to november.
Terrain : this region is hilly, but not at all extreme, the maximum elevation difference on our route is 200 metres.

Les Magnolias works closely with Aquitaine Bike, a local company that has 28 years of personal cycling experience in the region and 17 years of client feedback; they take in the best cycling routes and points of interest that the region has to offer. World class rides are assured!

Aquitaine Bike has made a special 4 day self-guided custom tour for guests of Les Magnolias.

The package consists of 4 daily loop rides from Les Magnolias.
If needed, we can custom design these routes to suit you.

1 Medieval Villages Loop (50 km)

Issigeac – this ancient village has been the site of a Gallo Roman settlement, a Merovingian necropolis and a 6th century monastery.
Monsac – this small stone village has vestiges of habitation from the Paleolithic era, Roman and Gaul periods.

Truffel loop (40 km)

This ride is through the culinary heartland of the Perigord : forests of wild mushrooms, truffles & game, walnut groves, strawberry fields, fruit farms, duck & goose farms to Ste.Alvère – the authentic truffle centre of the Dordogne.  Lunch options in the village.

3 Bastide Loop (45 km)

Molières – the unfinished English bastide.
St Avit Sénieur – timeless village with a massive fortified church – origins 11th century.
Cadouin – this charming village grew around a 12th century Cistercian abbey; the cloisters feature three different architectural periods.
Trémolat – with its 12th century Romanesque church, lunch in a café or restaurant.

4 Vineyard Loop (60 km)

Itinerary : Loop ride through the vineyards of the Bergerac wine region to Chateau de Monbazillac
– built in 1550 in an architectural style both defensive and renaissance, the castle fell into disrepair until it was purchased in the 1960s by a group of local vintners who restored it to its former glory. The cellars contain a wine museum.

Bergerac is a wine region located in the Dordogne department of South-West France. Wines have been produced here since at least Roman times. Our bike tour takes you on a breathtaking cycle through the hills of Bergerac passing vineyards, wine chateau’s and honey coloured stone villages. Taking in the sights, smells and sounds before sitting down to a full lunch at a quaint family owned restaurant which nestles amongst the Bergerac hills.
